Last week, Jordin Sparks debuted her “respira” tattoo, which translates to “breathe.” The slimmed-down singer says that the ribcage ink commemorates her role as Nina Rosario in Broadway’s “In the Heights” last fall.Sparks isn’t the only celeb to sport ink reminding her to breathe:

In 2009, Miley got the phrase “just breathe” tattooed on the left side of her ribcage. The ink was a tribute to departed loved ones: a close friend who died of cystic fibrosis in 2007 and both of her grandfathers, who died of lung cancer. “It reminds me not to take things for granted. I mean, breathing — that was something none of them could do, the most basic thing,” Miley told Harper’s Bazaar in 2010. “And I put it near my heart, because that is where they will always be.”
